Grounded Hatha 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training CourseYoga Teacher Training for Real Bodies
I didn’t come to Yoga feeling confident. I came feeling intimidated, unseen and like I didn’t fit in. Even on my own Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2014, I carried the belief that maybe Yoga (or teaching it), wasn’t really meant for people like me.
Despite what I was bombarded with on social media, Yoga really is for everybody, every age and every level.
When I began teaching in 2014, I made a promise that:
No one would ever leave my class feeling unseen, judged or not “Yoga enough”.
Grounded Hatha is the training I wish had existed when I first started.
What to expectAn inclusive Yoga Teacher Training course for those who love Yoga but never felt like they quite “fit” the Yoga Body stereotype and who want to support their peers in their everyday lives.
A breath-led Hatha Yoga Teacher Training designed for real bodies, real lives and real-world teaching. You’ll learn how to teach Yoga in a relaxed, relatable and adaptable way, that allows your personality to shine through and will attract your dream students.
You’ll gain knowledge, confidence & real-world experience to support your own students, create your own classes, workshops and Retreats and build a heart-led Yoga business that feels aligned with your life.
Because teaching Yoga is about so more than standing at the front of the class, it’s about creating experiences where people feel safe, supported and transformed.
Throughout the Grounded Hatha course, you’ll learn not only HOW to share your Yoga knowledge in a non-intimidating way, but how to create meaningful wellbeing experiences from your first class, to workshops, courses and your own Retreats.
Grounded Hatha is for teachers who want to do things differently.
How the Training Works
Designed with busy, real-life people in mind, the course blends flexible in-home learning (live and recorded sessions) with 2 in-person weekends at a Spa Hotel and a final 3 night Yoga Retreat project, spread over 6 months.
❋ Hybrid LearningIn this training, the breath governs the practice and you’ll learn how to create classes that are grounding, accessible and well-paced for your students. Stepping away from the current wave of aesthetic alignment, this course will teach you the skills that transform lives, one breath at a time.
❋ Breath-led Hatha YogaAt the heart of this training is a simple belief: Yoga should give people more agency in their bodies, not take it away and you’ll learn how to build this confidence in your own student’s practice (and maybe in your own practice too!)
❋ Choice, Agency & SupportYou’ll gain the knowledge you need to support your own students, create your own classes, workshops & Retreats and run a heart-led sustainable business, in a safe and supportive space, without exhausting yourself.
❋ A Supportive SpaceGrounded Hatha 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training CourseOur Yoga Teaching Philosophy
Over the space of 6 months, you’ll learn how to teach breath-led, choice-based Hatha Yoga classes that focus on supporting real-life women in their busy lives. The training covers these 5 main pillars in flexible modules, that fit around your life, job and family:

Andrew McGonigle (aka Dr Yogi) will be leading the Anatomy & Physiology part of the course. His approach is science-backed, but fun and will cover the anatomy & physiology you need to understand why bodies move differently and why Yoga feels so good!

The Yoga Retreat Project
Taking you from Yoga Teacher Trainee to Retreat Host
Unlike many other Yoga Teacher Trainings, you won’t just learn about Retreats, you’ll actually help create plan and host one.
Throughout the Grounded Hatha course, you’ll work together with your fellow trainees to plan and co-host a real Yoga Retreat for real-life guests. But don’t worry! I have already booked the venue, got some (very willing) guests and our lovely chef will be keeping us very happy at mealtimes, so there’s no financial risk or pressure on you to fill it!
Going far beyond being a lovely weekend Retreat at the end of your training, this is your opportunity to experience what it’s really like to create and run a Retreat from the ground up, without those nerves of having to put a deposit down and hoping people will come.
You’ll learn from my 10 years of Retreat Hosting experience how to:
Create a Retreat theme that appeals to your audience
Design and plan a schedule that flows from start to finish, that your guests will love
Juggle the practicalities and logistics behind the scenes
Welcome, support and hold space for real guests throughout their experience
Reflect on your experience and build confidence for creating your own Retreats in the future
You’ll gain hands-on experience of the planning, preparation, delivery and hosting involved in running a Retreat, with my support and guidance.
All trainees will have the opportunity to bring along a guest to the Yoga Retreat weekend for a super reduced rate, because having someone there to support you and see you succeed is what our community is all about.

Our main style for this training is Hatha Yoga, with a focus on making the practice accessible to as many people as possible. You will also learn how to sequence Vinyasa Yoga (or Flow as it is often called), Chair Yoga & Restorative Yoga too.
-
There’s really no such thing as being “good” at Yoga. All I ask is that you have a regular practice of 2 or more years, are open learning new things and really passionate about helping others feel good!
-
All the live online sessions will be recorded, so you will be able to watch a replay if you miss a session. 100% attendance is required at the in-person weekends in order to pass the course, but I understand things come up sometimes, so this will be discussed with the individual on a case-by-case basis.
-
Each module has a task for you to complete, to show your understanding of that topic. You’ll also need to pass your Anatomy & Physiology module, undertake a certain number of classes, and pass your final teaching assessment. I know this sounds like a lot right now, but the course will guide you gently through each stage, so it won’t feel overwhelming!
-
Many people join teacher training without knowing whether they want to teach (myself included!)
They come because they want to understand Yoga more deeply, grow in confidence and explore a new direction in life.Gaining this certification means you can teach straight away, or leave it 1, 2 or even 5 years before starting out! You’ll find the more you learn about Yoga, the more opportunities it opens up for you that you may never have thought of before!
-
You’ll be able to get insurance and start teaching Yoga as soon as you have been certified. Where totally depends on you, but you could teach in gyms, studios or start your own classes in community spaces.
-
In this methodology we teach how to visually and verbally cue poses, because this is what we use 99% of the time, but you will learn some basic physical adjustments.
We focus on how a pose feels rather than how it looks and giving our students the agency and choice in their own bodies. So if a student is feeling a pose but it doesn’t look like the “perfect” alignment in our head, should we adjust this person physically?
On the rare occasion when a physical adjustment is needed, consent is always required and adjustments are made in a gentle and sensitive way, but only after visual and verbal cues have been offered and/or the students asks for an assist.
-
